On the northern slope of the Sierra de Cebollera, in the upper valley of the Iregua river, in the Camero Nuevo region, about 50 kilometers from Logroño on the N-111 road. It has an area of 23,640 hectares that includes the municipalities of Villoslada de Cameros and Lumbreras, with the villages of San Andrés and El Horcajo, with a combined population of close to 500 inhabitants. The Sierra de Cebollera is a privileged geological place within the Iberian System, due to the glacial formations, the "holes", at altitudes above 2,000 meters.
Beneath the high mountains, extensive natural forests of Scots pine, beech and oak predominate, with outstanding ecological and scenic values in the course of mountain streams, with waterfalls and small waterfalls in a riparian forest environment.
It is a landscape that has recovered the forests after centuries of intense activity of transhumance in the lands of Cameros. A traditional culture that has left its mark integrated into the new landscape through corrals, pastoral huts and hermitages.
The line of peaks of the Sierra de Cebollera is located between the Puerto de Santa Inés (1,753 m). and the Puerto de Piqueras (1,710 m.), south of the Natural Park: Vinuesa Castle (2,083 m.), Peñón de Santocenarrio (2,058 m.), Cebollera (2,164 m.), La Mesa (2,163 m.), Alto of Cueva Mayor (2,138 m.).
In addition to the pine, beech and oak forests, there are other rarer and more unique species that contribute to the biodiversity of the Sierra de Cebollera landscapes: birch trees, black pine forests, acebedas, sessile oak robles.Among the fauna of the Park, linked to the habitats of forests and high mountains, we must highlight the Iberian gray partridge and forest raptors, as well as roe deer, deer and wild boar. In the rivers, in addition to the trout, you can find the otter, the small Iberian desman and the rare European mink.
