Located outside the city walls, in the place where according to tradition the Virgin of Vico appeared to the Kan de Vico, head of one of the Arab Communities of Arnedo, in the year 1045. It was in 1456 when the Franciscan Fray López de Salinas founded this monastery that reached its greatest splendor in the 17th century.
The monastery had a valuable library of which little has survived to this day. The cause of this loss is due to the two fires that occurred in the building, in 1635 and 1766. It is currently occupied and governed by the sisters of the Cistercian Community. This order lives consecrated to the contemplative life, to the prayer and the liturgy, although for its maintenance they work in the decoration of the porcelain, in the confectionery and in the inn.
There is a long tradition in the monastery in the production of artisan pastries, sweets and pastries. The nuns of the Vico monastery, following this tradition, make exquisite sweets that delight the most demanding palates. The quality and elaboration of its pastries is accredited by the "Artisan Qualification" issued by the Government of La Rioja to the Monastery of Vico.
It is worth visiting or ordering any of their products through the online store and being able to taste an unparalleled flavor that reminds the palate of the most ancient flavors that some take them back to their childhood years and to grandmothers' desserts.
